ATCHISON, Kan. — [February 12, 2026] – Valley Hope Addiction Treatment and Recovery announced today that it has received federal funding recently approved by Congress, supporting the expansion of its Valley Hope of Atchison campus. The nonprofit organization’s “Bridge to Recovery capital campaign” initiative aims to fund the expansion and renovations that support improved care and help meet the growing demand for quality addiction treatment.

Sen. Moran, in his role as a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, helped to secure the federal resources to update and expand the Atchison residential facility to support Valley Hope’s important work.

The federal funds will help the non-profit fuel the ongoing efforts to expand the treatment footprint, expanded medical and detox areas, and additional space for clinical sessions, while enhancing privacy and comfort for patients and families.

“Good things happen when good people lead, and the Atchison community has stepped up to make a positive and lasting impact for the families and individuals receiving care through Valley Hope,” said U.S. Senator Jerry Moran. “We change the world one person at a time, and quality addiction treatment saves lives and strengthens communities. Thank you to Valley Hope for the work they do to accomplish the betterment of other people.”

“We are grateful to Senator Moran for securing a vital federal investment that helps us get closer to our goal of better serving the Kansas treatment and recovery community,” said Dr. Patrick Hall, President and CEO of Valley Hope Addiction Treatment and Recovery. “This funding recognizes the critical role Valley Hope plays in providing high quality addiction care, and it accelerates our efforts to expand the center to meet the needs of our patients and staff members.”

Dr. Hall said the expansion and renovations will help Valley Hope meet the needs of patients and respond to growing demand for the comprehensive care approaches that the treatment organization has pioneered since its founding in 1967.

“This funding enables a bold step forward in realizing our vision for a campus that supports healing at every level,” said Gail Griffin, Executive Director, Valley Hope of Atchison. “Our community has long embraced Valley Hope as a vital source of clinical care, and we are thrilled to know these improvements will serve more people as they begin their recovery journeys.”

In addition to the federal appropriation, the Valley Hope Foundation continues its Bridge to Recovery capital campaign, seeking philanthropic support to complete the project and ensure long-term sustainability. The collaboration between federal investment and private giving will help extend Valley Hope’s impact and further cement its role as a cornerstone of recovery services in northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri.

“We are grateful for Senator Moran’s leadership that made this funding possible, and the campaign steering committee, led by co-chairs Karen Seaberg and Rick Berger.” said Megan O’Connor, Executive Director, Valley Hope Foundation. “We are closer to the full funds needed to make the Bridge to Recovery a reality for our patients and families. Philanthropy will make the full vision a reality, helping expand treatment capacity, supporting innovative care spaces, and ensuring that Valley Hope continues offering life-saving services for generations to come.”

Valley Hope of Atchison has served the community since 1972, providing individualized, evidence-based treatment for adults seeking recovery. For more information, please visit valleyhope.org/atchison-project.
