How has recovery influenced the person you are today?
It has changed me, inside out - I have had the opportunity to learn to grow from my mistakes, and consistently check myself to become a better person.
What’s something meaningful you’ve started doing since getting sober that brings you joy or purpose?
Working at Valley Hope - doing this job helps me give back to others that are in the same place of suffering that I once was. Doing this provides healing for me, and provides comfort for those who are seeking our services.
What goals have you achieved or are working toward because of your recovery?
Because of my addiction, I lost custody of my oldest son, I dropped out of high school, I had given up entirely. Today, I am a single mom of 2 beautiful boys, who will never have to know the person I used to be - I have obtained my GED, and have one class left to complete to earn my Associates in Business Management.
Is there a passion or talent you have pursued in recovery?
My main passion has been to help others who are struggling to find their way out of the grips of their addiction. I lost my brother to addiction in 2021. I cared for him for several months, and he lost his battle. Since then, Valley Hope has provided me an outlet to help other people's brothers and sisters, moms and dads and find healing in my grief.
