Honorary Campaign Chairman
Senator Pat Roberts
It’s a privilege for me to give my strong endorsement and support for Valley Hope’s upcoming BRIDGE TO RECOVERY capital campaign in Atchison.
My personal involvement with the compassionate care and effective treatment for those struggling with addiction by Valley Hope goes back many years. I first became familiar with Valley Hope when I had the privilege of working with the Honorable Keith Sebelius as his chief of staff. Congressman Sebelius served on the Board of Directors and was key in writing the articles of incorporation.
Since that time, the scourge of addiction and resulting damage to individuals, families, and yes, our state of Kansas and our nation has become immense and almost overwhelming.
The good news is that Valley Hope is making a difference! I have seen firsthand the positive effects that Valley Hope has achieved. I am confident that this capital campaign will enable them to continue and expand their important and vital work for now and years to come.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many struggling with addiction.

Rick Berger and I are excited and honored to be a part of the BRIDGE TO RECOVERY campaign to relieve overcrowding and better accommodate patients in Atchison.
The renovation of Valley Hope of Atchison is very important to me personally. My grandfather and father knew there was need for a treatment facility in Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri and gave both their time and monetary support to help Valley Hope of Atchison. As with most families, my family has seen those we love struggle with substance abuse. The need for treatment is even greater today, and Valley Hope desperately needs more room to help patients and their families reach sobriety in a safe, comfortable space.
Honorary Co-Chair
Rick Berger
Drug and alcohol overdose deaths in Kansas have seen the nation’s second largest percentage increase in the last 3 years, second only to Alaska according to the CDC. It is critical for us to address this problem.
Like most people, I have had family and friends that suffer from alcohol and drug addiction. I lost an uncle and a great-uncle to alcoholism and most recently a nephew to drug addiction. It is a horrible disease and one that needs to be addressed. I want to do my part in helping people overcome their addiction. I am committed to the mission of helping this project come to fruition and we need your support.

Our Promise
At Valley Hope, we understand the devastating toll addictive substances take on people, their families, and relationships. We’ve seen productive lives and promising futures destroyed by this relentless, unforgiving disease.
We are steadfast in our belief and dedicated to the idea that recovery is possible. With our help, people struggling with addiction can once again become the people they were meant to be.
By embracing patients with dignity and respect, we empower them to respect themselves. With access to Valley Hope’s treatment techniques, delivered in a caring, personalized, and spiritual environment, they learn to manage their illness, climb out of the valley of addiction, and return to a life full of promise and hope.
