Forrest M.’s Story
- 2025: More Than My Recovery
Which Valley Hope location did you attend?
Valley Hope of Parker
When is your sobriety birthday?
August 18, 2024
How has recovery influenced the person you are today?
It’s showed me how bright and special life can be. It’s taught me how resilient I really am and how everything gets better if you don’t succumb to the disease. I used to see things but never felt them, never smelled them, never heard them. I see things now with vibrant colors.
What’s something meaningful you’ve started doing since getting sober that brings you joy or purpose?
My relationship with my family isn’t just one-sided anymore. I gained their trust back and truly enjoy their company and they enjoy mine. I’ve also got my independence back.
What goals have you achieved or are working toward because of your recovery?
I have achieved a little bit of financial stability, and am working towards becoming a firefighter paramedic.
Is there a passion or talent you have pursued in recovery?
I’ve started riding again which is something I grew up doing but didn’t have the opportunity and now I do.
