What do you remember about creating your Valley Hope Cup during treatment? What did your design represent at that point in your recovery?

I wasn't sure what to put. So I put my favorite recovery scriptures (James 5:16) and my wife, children, and grandchildren's names.

What did it mean to return for Renewal Day, see your cup again, and realize how much your life had changed in one year?

I did not realize how much it meant to me until I saw my cup. I had so much joy and pride in my accomplishments.

Today, when you look at your Valley Hope Cup, what does it symbolize for you?

It reminds me that I am stronger than I give myself credit for.

Is there anything else about your Valley Hope Cup or your recovery journey that you'd like to share?

About 6 months into my journey I remember telling my therapist that I just wanted to get to one year so I can get my cup. Then all bets are off. Looking at my cup today reminded me of how far I've come and that I never want to go back.
