Holly P.’s Story
- 2025: More Than My Recovery
Which Valley Hope location did you attend?
Valley Hope of O'Neill
When is your sobriety birthday?
October 6, 2016
How has recovery influenced the person you are today?
Being in recovery has allowed me to follow the principles of AA, be a kind human, live in the moment, and allow myself to feel big feelings. My recovery journey started at Valley Hope when I was barely 17 years old and while it took years after to get sober, Valley Hope continues to be the first building blocks of my sobriety. Today I am able to be a good mom, a good friend, and a good therapist because of the promises coming true in my life.
What’s something meaningful you’ve started doing since getting sober that brings you joy or purpose?
Because of my sobriety, I was able to open my own private practice treatment center. I am able to utilize my own recovery journey along with the skills and knowledge I gained in schooling to help others find hope and achieve sobriety. Aside from my career, I am able to raise my children in a healthy home where the cycle of addiction has been broken.
What goals have you achieved or are working toward because of your recovery?
My main goals were to complete school. I was able to obtain an associates, and then a bachelors degree while in recovery. I will soon begin my Master’s program and further my career in therapy.
Is there a passion or talent you have pursued in recovery?
My passion is to help others find hope and purpose in recovery. Through staying sober, I am able to do just that.
