- 2022: What's Up With Your Cup?
Which Valley Hope location did you attend?
Valley Hope of Atchison
How did the process of creating your Coffee Cup influence your treatment experience?
The process of creating my Cup while in treatment was inspiring. I’ve always been an artistic person but while in active addiction my projects would end up unfinished or a terrible mess. Creating my Cup was therapeutic and gave me an outlet to express how I was feeling about the transition that was occurring while there.
What is the inspiration behind the design of your cup?
My Cup symbolizes the rebirth of my life that occurred the day I walked into treatment at Valley Hope. I came in broken, hating myself, and unsure of who I was going to be once I became sober. All I knew is that I was transitioning and blossoming into someone completely new.
Reflecting on where you were when you first created your cup, what does your cup mean to you today?
When I created my Cup I was at the lowest point in my life. I was scared, fragile, and broken. Today I look at my Cup and it motivates me to keep going. So much has changed in the 416 days since I’ve drank and my worst day sober is better than my best day drunk. I truly have been reborn and I can’t thank the staff of Valley Hope enough for loving me when I didn’t love myself.
